Welcome
The Accreditation Website for the Communicative Disorders Program (CD) at San Francisco State University. This website was developed for the purpose of demonstrating how the CD Program meets accreditation standards of the Council for Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
Reviewer
The reviewer will find examples of the key aspects of the CD Program that include the organization; faculty qualifications; academic and clinical training; student admission; assessment and program resources. The CD Program is located in one of the most diverse areas of the US, representing the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of people in the SF Bay Area.
Curriculum
Our curriculum prepares students to meet the standards of ASHA certification, California state licensure in speech-language pathology, and the California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential. Throughout their education, graduate students gain experience to provide culturally-responsive therapeutic services with children and adults with many communicative challenges. The CD Program offers both academic and clinical preparation to meet the “Big Nine” areas of communicative disorders in addition to specialization areas such as Autism Spectrum Disorders and Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
