Our mission is to facilitate the independence of individuals with learning difficulties through assessment driven individualized education, research and outreach. This posting is for positions at our campus in San Rafael, CA.
Our unique educational program for middle and upper school students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge their strengths. This is Winson Prep’s seventeenth year of our highly successful “Focus Program,” in which each student receives a daily period of one-to-one instruction concentrating on their greatest area of need. The implementation of the program has allowed us to further personalize instruction and strategies so that our students can better understand themselves, as well as verbalize their needs to become independent learners.
We are searching for excellent candidates for full-time Focus Teachers (one-on-one) as well as content area classroom teachers at the Winston Preparatory School CA for the coming school year (20-21). Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students struggling with a wide range of learning differences, while coordinating and facilitating consistent communication between classroom teachers and families. Content teachers deliver instruction in core content areas (Math, Science, English/Language Arts, History/Social Studies, etc.) with a focus on flexibly integrating a wide range of skills and content tailored to the individual needs of student class groupings.
The nature of the position allows for someone with a varied background. Currently, WPS Focus staff includes social workers, reading specialists, speech therapists, learning specialists, school psychologists, as well as former lawyers and copy editors. Our classroom teachers have equally diverse and interesting backgrounds. A successful candidate will be a highly professional, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.
