Contra Costa College is now hiring reading and writing tutors for Fall 2020.
Our tutors are embedded in developmental and accelerated reading and writing classes. We ask tutors to collaborate with faculty to meet the needs of the class. Our tutors take class notes, aid in breakout rooms and various other in-class activities, help monitor the chat, assist with zoom.
Outside of class, our tutors hold weekly group study sessions usually between 2-3 hours a week. Those sessions usually focus on a particular topic, perhaps a review of the reading or a workshop on thesis statements. They may also hold paper workshops to help students with editing their papers.
Tutors can also schedule 1:1 appointments to work directly with students on any of the above.
The hours are fairly flexible, but we try to set our group study at the same time each week. All tutoring sessions will be online for FA20. Hourly pay rates start at $14.37.
