Speech-Language Pathology Accreditation

    Welcome to the Accreditation website for the Master of Science (M.S.) education program in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences (residential) at San Francisco State University. This website has been designed to meet the requirements of accreditation in Speech-Language Pathology, which is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, (800) 498-2071 or (301) 296-5700.

    The current accreditation cycle by CAA is 2017-2025. Furthermore, the Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) credential program at San Francisco State is accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC).

    Curriculum

    Our curriculum prepares students to meet the standards of American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification, California state licensure in speech-language pathology and the California Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential.  Throughout their education, graduate students gain experience in providing culturally responsive therapeutic services to children and adults with many communicative challenges.

    The reviewers will find examples of the key aspects of the speech-language and hearing sciences (SLHS) program, which include the organization, faculty qualifications, academic and clinical training, student admission, assessment and program resources. The SLHS program is located in one of the most diverse areas of the United States, representing people's cultural and linguistic backgrounds in the San Francisco Bay Area.
